Every Journey has it's end...

http://clipart-library.com/clipart/zcXabEqcB.htm

We are now at the last quarter of this school year and it was a fun and memorable ride for all of us students. It is very hard to study due to the ongoing pandemic and we students are just staying at home. During this 4th quarter, I have learned many techniques and skills that made my work more easily. I learned a lot this 4th quarter especially in our subject ICT because of the new lesson that I don’t have idea on it. It is the Microsoft FrontPage and it allows us to create web pages. I easily understand how MS Frontpage works with the help of my brother.

I have also encountered many challenges and problems during this 4th quarter. One of these is the slow internet connection. Having slow internet connection is very hard because I cannot attend google meetings and search the information that I don’t know. I find it very difficult to read the concept notes that have given to me because of my surroundings. I have also encountered problems like lagging smartphone and slow laptop response. With the hard work and dedication, I have finished all the given tasks with the given time. I also struggled learning our lessons in Mathematics and Basic Electronics because of the complicated computations that have given. I I’m not a fan of analyzing and studying computations.

Moving on, I will work hard and do my best to learn and analyze the lessons without the help of the internet. One of the techniques that I do in answering the tasks given is asking my family members and friends for help. I will do my best and to achieve my goals in life. I will do everything just to be successful in life.

A Day to Remember

It is a public holiday and it is the most special holiday in the Philippines. It is a day off for the general population of the Philippines, schools and sometimes businesses. One of the most significant day in the Philippines, June 12 and it is Independence day. This day marks the nations independence from the Spanish colonization, June 12, 1898. Filipino celebrates it every year in June 12.

The annual June 12 observance of Philippine’s Independence Day came into effect after past President Diosdado Macapagal signed the Republic Act No. 4166 regarding this matter on August 4, 1964.  This Act legalized the holiday, which is based on the Declaration of Independence on June 12, 1898 by General Emilio Aguinaldo and Filipino revolutionary forces from the Spanish colonization.  The Philippines’ flag was raised and its national anthem was played for the first time in 1898.  However, liberty was short-lived because Spain and the United States did not recognize the declaration. The 1898 Treaty of Paris ended the war between Spain and the United States. Spain surrendered the entire archipelago comprising the Philippines to the United States.  The Philippines started a revolt against the United States in 1899 and achieved national sovereignty on July 4, 1946, through the Treaty of Manila.  Independence Day was officially observed on July 4 until the Republic Act No. 4166, which set out to move the holiday to June 12, was approved on August 4, 1964. It is good that Filipinos still celebrates Independence Day and is really shows how we preserved our culture and history in our own land.

Saturday, June 12, 2021, is Philippines Independence Day, or as locals call it, “Araw ng Kasarinlan” (“Day of Freedom”). This annual national holiday honors Philippine independence from Spain in 1898. In this year 2021, people will most likely celebrate Independence day in their own houses because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. This year, people will enjoy more Pinoy dishes with their family and friends. Fireworks and patriotic celebrations happen across the world on June 12, but some Filipinos will choose raising their flags instead of fireworks.

Healing the World

In this world that we are living, we humans are depending on it just like water, food, medicines, clothes, and homes. But what happens if all these things are used and there are all going to extinct. Well, we are experiencing it right now that’s why we have programs about restoring our Earth and preventing it for more damage. Environment Day is about preventing, restoring, and reversing our environment from getting damaged. It is about preventing environmental damages to our Earth’s ecosystem. During this day, people will help the environment grow and restore itself just like plating trees.

The World Environment Day is June 5, 2021, To mark this day we wanted to highlight the resilient and resourceful farmers we are honored to work alongside, who are helping to heal their local ecosystems. Ecosystems are the interaction between plants, animals and people, and their surroundings such as nature, cities and farms (UN, 2021). For far too long, people have been exploiting and destroying our Earth’s ecosystems causing the loss of natural habitats and carbon sinks, which in turn intensifies the climate crisis. We all depend on healthy ecosystems for our survival. Calamities and crisis that we all are experiencing is what we have done. It is all our fault that our Earth is dying and we should be ashamed to the God because it was given to us to protect and not to destroy it. But we humans are not doing that instead we are doing its opposite. If we are going to analyze the things that is happening in our world, those big companies are the ones who are mainly destroying our ecosystem. They don’t mind their surroundings but all they have in their mind is their money that they will going to produce in that kind of activity that they are doing. Mining, Illegal fishing, deforestation, urbanization; these are just some of the things that have greatly effect in destroying our environment. Locals like farmers, fishermen’s, and people who are living in the uplands are the one we should thank to because they are the one who are in capable of caring our environment. The theme for Environment Day 2021 is Ecosystem Restoration. Ecosystem restoration means assisting in the recovery of ecosystems that have been degraded or destroyed, as well as conserving the ecosystems that are still intact. Healthier ecosystems, with richer biodiversity, yield greater benefits such as more fertile soils, bigger yields of timber and fish, and larger stores of greenhouse gases. Restoration can happen in many ways – for example through actively planting or by removing pressures so that nature can recover on its own. It is not always possible – or desirable – to return an ecosystem to its original state. We still need farmland and infrastructure on land that was once forest, for instance, and ecosystems, like societies, need to adapt to a changing climate.

We humans can do the things that are possible and impossible if we work together. Together we can restore our Environment to its healthy state. We wouldn’t want for the next generation to experience the consequences for the things that we have done. All thanks to this pandemic that are ecosystem is healing all by itself.

“Only with healthy ecosystems can we enhance people’s livelihoods, counteract climate change and stop the collapse of biodiversity.” – UN, World Environment Day, 2021.

Do You Juana...

We live in a world where chaos, wars, discrimination, and inequality is normal. Our world is always changing, what I mean about changing is the people that lives in it and due to these changes that happens in our world many of us will be left out. In the past years of human existence, women are always at the bottom. We are now living in 21st century and questioning women’s abilities, skills, and capabilities are one of the biggest mistakes that you will ever done. Women these days are very different due to the fact that centuries ago, movements of women are very limited and it is very hard. They were not allowed to do anything but household chores, not letting women to study, and many more. In these situations, we cannot see gender equality and men are always believed to be stronger compared to women. To the point wherein men have more opportunities than women because not only a single chance had given to them. Throughout history, women have made extraordinary contributions to their societies. Some are well known, some are less so, but all have been trail blazers.

If men have the opportunities to do the things that they want and not worrying about the consequences of their doings, then maybe women can get the same opportunities and have the chance to show their skills and abilities and what are they really capable of. The question is what women can do or what a Bigueñan women can do. Mother, Wife, Doctor, Nurse, Teacher, Soldier, Police, whatever a woman is, should be respected and be empowered. What Bigueñan women can do especially we are experiencing this ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic. Women during this pandemic is very helpful and also hardworking especially our front liners. They help us in every aspect like disciplining the people, our police and soldier women. Our nurses and doctors, they help us in our health and treated us nicely. I know a Biqueñan woman that her work was really affected by this pandemic and with the hard work and determination that she had, she did not let the pandemic to stop her from working. She started selling plants from Php 100 to Php 200 and her costumers were small. She begun to invest her plants, she trade it to another plant owner and treat the plant until it grows and sell it. With the help of his husband, she is now selling plants from Php 600 to Php 1000. We can really see the hard work and determination of that woman. Women are not just women, they are incredible and some can be your father and also your mother. I know a woman that during this pandemic, she is acting as a mother and a father into her only son. She is brave and hard working woman.

Many woman are still experiencing less opportunities in their lives, some are not given once. We are all creation of God and we do not have the right to look down on others because we are all the same. We are all crafted by God and we are made to care, to love, and to respect one another. Women empowerment is empowering women. Empowering their self’s worth, their ability to have and determine their own decisions in life, and their right to influence and change the other for the better. It's so important for women self-esteem and also for societies. Empowering women is to give women the right. Women can have equal right to participate in education, society, economy and politically. Women can involve in society as they are glad to choose their religious, language, work and other activities. Several women are known and honoured but I know many are out there fighting for their lives and rights to do the things that they wanted. We witnessed how woman can be strong. We witnessed a determined Bigueñan woman to work hard and fight for their lives in this world. Just like the Bigueñan women said- “I never dreamed about success, I worked for it”.

Mother's Love

It is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of May. Mother's Day is an occasion which is celebrated in various parts of the world to express respect, honor, and love towards mothers. The day is an event to honor the contribution of mothers, acknowledge the efforts of maternal bonds and the role of mothers in our home and in our society. Mother will be the first and special woman in everyone’s life, right. Not a specific day needed for celebrating the mom. But, celebrating and honoring mom on Mother’s Day is essential to make mom feel blessed and proud.

In the United States of America, Mother’s day is celebrated through love cards and eating. Children cook breakfast for their moms, buy them flowers and shower them with small surprises. Way back 1914 when Mother’s day first celebrated in United States. Celebrating Mother’s Day here in the Philippines is pretty similar to other countries like America, with chocolates and flowers and various gifts to pamper mom. While a lot of Filipinos are opting more and more to eat out, most families still celebrate at home. Mother is the first friend of all children, you share your emotions and thoughts with your mother. Mother’s Day is a special time of year where you will honor your first best friend and the one you still go to for advice. Mother’s Day is also an excellent opportunity to express your gratitude to all the other amazing people in your life. It is very special and memorable especially to our mothers when we honor them as our mothers and thanks them for all the sacrifices that they have done.

Mother will always appreciate the thoughtful present and so mother’s day is not all about spending money. It is one special day in the year to show your love to your mom. As a son or daughter, you need to make the day something special and not like the regular days. Your mom will have lots of wishes in heart and it is now your responsibility to bring all her dreams to come true on this exclusive day for her. Every day, we must show our love and care to our mother and always respect them if possible because they are always there when nothing is around for us, they are the ones who taught us how to talk, write, and read.

Unexpected Things

Let’s go back where the Binatbatan festival really came from and let’s understand what really happened in December 1882. Festivals are an expressive way to celebrate glorious heritage, culture and traditions. They are meant to rejoice special moments and emotions in our lives with our loved ones. They play an important role to add structure to our social lives, and connect us with our families and backgrounds. The celebration of Vigan Binatbatan festival is different compared to previous years because of the ongoing pandemic.

Vigan Binatbatan Festival of the Arts were yearly celebrated from the last week of April up to the first week of May. Binatbatan festival was originally started during an epidemic in 1882. The festival began when an epidemic killed over 934 residents in a month. The epidemic started November 12 and ended December 15. This happened 30 years after a chapel was built in 1852 in the cemetery of Vigan. The huge number of death in such short time alarmed the residents that they asked Dr. Evaristo Abaya, then the parish priest, to request for the visit to Vigan of the Santo Cristo Milagroso of Sinait town. The Santo Milagroso was venerated by the people with a nine-day novena. When the novena progressed for days, the number of death decreased, and on the last day, the epidemic stopped. The people glorified God for the miracle. Almost all residents attended the Holy Mass in honor of Santo Cristo. In gratitude, the residents of Vigan chose the third day of May as thanksgiving day for Santo Cristo whom they call “Apo Lakay”. This is the feast day of the Holy Cross and the Santo Cristo of Sinait town. Since then on Fridays and third day of May, people have been going to the cemetery chapel called Simbaan a Bassit to hear Holy Mass, and continue their devotion to Apo Lakay.

It is wonderful that during these days we are able to celebrate the said festival with the ongoing pandemic. I hope “Apo lakay” will have another miracle and the ongoing pandemic, the Covid-19. It really shows how we love preserve our traditions and cultures in our own land. This year Binatbatan festival is different and we must follow strict health protocols but nothing can stop our devotion to God. I hope that this Covid-19 pandemic will come to end and everyone will go back to their normal lives and live safely again.

3rd Grading: An Unforgettable Experience

This pandemic may be a good challenge for us students to be more productive and challenge ourselves with studying. During this Modular distance Learning, I learned a lot including my techniques and how I managed my time in answering my modules. It is actually fun yet sad because we cannot meet our friends and make memories throughout the school year. During this pandemic, I discovered many topics that I don’t know especially to the topics that have tackled during the 3rd   Quarter of the subject ICT. 3rd Quarter of the subject ICT is all about Community- Based Research. I am not new to research because I have experienced making research project these past grade levels. I knew it is going to be hard because it is a research project and we all know that It is hard to make a research paper and keep in mind that we are experiencing a pandemic and everyone cannot go out so you are doing a research paper on your own.

With the hard work and dedication that I applied in doing my Community- Based Research, I was able to finish my project with the given amount of time. I have encountered many problems including the lack of sources for the information. I cannot go out and find some information because of the ongoing pandemic. I find it as a challenge and hard gathering data’s and information about my topic in my Community- based Research.

I worked hard and doing my best to learn and analyze these lessons. Asking my friends and families to help me understand and answers the modules because learning this school year is very hard for me because we are learning  in the middle of Pandemic. Moving on I will work hard and do my best to succeed in life because I realized that studying is important.

Covid-19 Vaccines - Our hope

We are now living in the world that Covid-19 vaccines are the only hope for our lives to be safe. But first, what is Vaccine? A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to a particular infectious disease. A vaccine typically contains an agent that resembles a disease-causing microorganism and is often made from weakened or killed forms of the microbe, its toxins, or one of its surface proteins. Medical scientists are doing their best to make and reproduce these vaccines to be distributed around the world. This vaccine will inject to human and probably will have a lesser risk to get infected by the Covid-19 Virus. Is it really this vaccine that can stop the ongoing pandemic?

Side effects of these vaccines are always present and we can’t do anything. Different countries produced their own vaccines, each of these have their own features and side effects. Every one of us must get vaccinated for this pandemic to stop and we can go back to our normal lives. Even if we have these vaccines that already made, it can’t stop the pandemic; unless we get vaccinated it will prevent the spreading of the virus. But we must always keep in mind that these vaccines are temporary, it cannot make us immune to the Covid-19 Virus. We must always continue to follow the safety health protocols and always wear mask and wash our hands.  Research is still ongoing how these vaccines can help us from the threat of our health.  Keep in mind that these vaccines have their own feature and side effects so if we are planning to get vaccinated, we must seek information first about the vaccine that we are going to inject to ourselves. Getting vaccinated is not easy as it seems. It is a very hard decision to do because these vaccines are new to us. But how vaccine work? How they can help us and in our body? Vaccines contain weakened or inactive parts of a particular organism (antigen) that triggers an immune response within the body. Newer vaccines contain the blueprint for producing antigens rather than the antigen itself. Regardless of whether the vaccine is made up of the antigen itself or the blueprint so that the body will produce the antigen, this weakened version will not cause the disease in the person receiving the vaccine, but it will prompt their immune system to respond much as it would have on its first reaction to the actual pathogen.
Some vaccines require multiple doses, given weeks or months apart. This is sometimes needed to allow for the production of long-lived antibodies and development of memory cells. In this way, the body is trained to fight the specific disease-causing organism, building up memory of the pathogen so as to rapidly fight it if and when exposed in the future.

I hope every one of us can have the vaccines and for this Covid-19 pandemic will end. We must always be aware on what are we doing because this vaccines cannot get give us immunity. We can prevent the spread of the virus if we always follow the safety health protocols and together, we can end this pandemic.

Join the Journey of the Cross

What is Lent? Lent is a season in which we especially focus on examining our hearts, confessing our sins. Lent is the season to observe and commemorate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the son of God, our Savior and Redeemer. It is an opportune time to reflect on what it means to be a follower of Christ. Lent is the period of 40 days which comes before Easter in the Christian calendar. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, Lent is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ's sacrifice and withdrawal into the desert for 40 days.

During this pandemic, catholics faced many challenges just like attending the mass with face mask and face shield. Others cannot allow going out. Due to these lockdowns catholics have no other choice but to attend the mass online which is the Facebook live. Because of the Pandemic, catholics have no other choice but to find a way to celebrate and commemorate Christ’s sacrifice. In previous years, the priest placed a cross in our foreheads during Ash Wednesday unlike today they only sprinkle it in our heads. There are no procession that were done because of the pandemic. This Covid-19 Pandemic is really challenging us including our faith. But we can make this Pandemic as a great time to reflect on ourselves and think of doing something good and better. Thinking of changing yourselves for the better and for everybody. This can be a time to think of our doings and correct it because this pandemic really affects us including our commitment to church. Church reconnects us to our shared beliefs. It reinforces the higher philosophy and purpose behind marriage and family and it allows us a safe space to connect with God and our spouse together. Couples who attend church together are making time to reiterate the important foundations of their marriage. Even though there is pandemic, priest and pastors did not stop to share and spread the word of god. Virtual mass is a great idea to continue the beliefs of catholic. It has a different impact but it is the safer way to do it to save ourselves from getting the virus and to stop the spreading of the virus. We should do our part and possible we can end this pandemic.

Just like going to church together, we can end this pandemic if we cooperate with each other and follow safety measures. Let this Lenten season be a time to reflect ourselves and think of what can we do good during this pandemic and do our part to end it.

Tragedy of Bataan

Dec81941, the United States entered World War II as Congress declared war against Imperial Japan, a day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Japanese shows the most intense phase of their conquest. In January 1942, forces of the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy invaded Luzon along with several islands in the Philippine Archipelago

The battle of Bataan is one of the most historical and intense that happens in Philippine history. It is the first land battle between the Americans and Japanese during the World War II. Many of us have no interest in their history but why battle of Bataan is very important to the Philippine history and especially to us Filipinos? The battle of Bataan is one of the most devastating military defeats of the American war history. There are almost 76,000 Filipino and American troops in Bataan and it is also the largest army to surrender in a war under the command of the Americans.

The commander-in-chief of all U.S. and Filipino forces in the islands, General Douglas MacArthur, consolidated all of his Luzon-based units on the Bataan Peninsula to fight against the Japanese army. By this time, the Japanese controlled nearly all of Southeast Asia. The Bataan Peninsula and the island of Corregidor were the only remaining Allied strongholds in the region. Many of the soldiers faced different challenges in their lives. Despite the lack of supplies, the Filipino and American military managed to fight and hold the Japanese army for three months. With the three months of holding the Japanese army, the Filipino and American managed in a fighting retreat southward. It is hard to imagine that these events happened in our fellow Filipinos. The battle of Bataan started in January 7, 1942 and ended in April 9, 1942. So why did the grounds of Bataan surrendered? American commandment made a decision on April 8, 1942 to immediately grant independence so that Philippines could declare a status of neutrality and on April 9, 1942 declared as The Day of Valor or in tagalog- “Araw ng Kagitingan”. The day of Valor also known as the Bataan day and Bataan and Corregidor day. After the April 9, 1942 U.S. surrender of the Bataan Peninsula on the main Philippine island of Luzon to the Japanese during World War II (1939-45), the approximately 75,000 Filipino and American troops on Bataan were forced to make an arduous 65-mile march to prison camps. During the Bataan Death March, approximately 10,000 men died. Of these men, 1,000 were American and 9,000 were Filipino.

The sacrifices that our soldiers did will never be forgotten and always be remembered. The experiences they have that lead to trauma. The wounds that they have suffered during the wars and the enslavement will be remembered forever and it will be honoured because without them, we cannot experience the joy of life today. They are the real heroes who fought for their own land and for us.

Women Empowerment

Women's History Month is an annual declared month that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. In this month we are celebrating the Women History Month which was begun in 1st day of March and ends in March 31. This month of March we give extra attention to all strong and determined women of the world. But why do we celebrate Women’s Month?

In the past centuries, women experienced less power and less right than men. They don’t have the chance to express their feelings to the world and what they have in mind. They have been enslaved and not free. Women are also human; they can also do the things that men can do. They are also human and there have no difference. We celebrate Women History Month to remind ourselves of the accomplishments of women throughout the years, their contributions to our culture, science, and politics. This month is a chance to reflect on the trailblazing women who lead the way for the change. In the Philippines, Women’s History Month is also celebrated and has since served as a venue to highlight women’s accomplishments and achievements and discuss continuing and emerging women’s empowerment and gender equality issues and concerns, challenges, and commitments.
The real purpose for celebrating Women’s month is to promote the peace with women’s right. We are in the 21st century and we must normalize seeing each other as equal. The theme for 2021 Women’s History Month is about the women who have fought for woman’s right to vote in the United States of America. “I am prepared to sacrifice every so-called privilege I possess in order to have few rights” – Inez MilHolland Suffragist, 1909

Two more Quarters

Learning this school is actually fun yet sad because we cannot experience anymore the things that we are used to. But it is a good time to take these challenges and learn after a long break from school because of the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic. I learned many techniques in answering these modules but nothing beats going to school and learn.

I learned a lot this Second grading especially in our subject of ICT because of the new lesson that is the HTML. I am not new to HTML because my brother and I usually explore the world of technologies mainly computer.

As time pass by, I find it hard learning the new lessons of HTML including the Hyperlink because I cannot make my tags work but with the hard work and dedication I’ve finally finished it. I also struggled learning our lessons in Mathematics and Basic Electronics because of the computations that they gave. I find it hard learning and analyzing computations.

I worked hard and doing my best to learn and analyze these lessons. Asking my friends and families to help me understand and answers the modules because learning this school year is very hard for me because we are learning  in the middle of Pandemic. Moving on I will work hard and do my best to succeed in life because I realized that studying is important.

Valentine’s Day this Pandemic is not bad at all

Couples would probably missing those fancy dinner dates, movie theater date, and trips this year’s Valentine’s Day because of the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic. Many couples may experience long distance date and dating virtually. But celebrating Valentine’s Day amidst the ongoing Pandemic might not be so bad. In fact, it may be more special.

2021 was not a good year to celebrate Valentine’s Day especially to long distance relationship couples. They can’t do anything but celebrate virtually. Many challenges couples may experience this year. Valentine’s Day this year is not bad at all that’s because this Pandemic holiday reminds us to be stronger in our relationships. The Pandemic practice us to become stronger and can withstand many hardships. Many couples are staying together despite the struggles that they are facing this time. Many couples have spent an unprecedented amount of time together throughout the last year. Others were forced to navigate long distance unexpectedly and with no end in sight.

Couples may find it hard time celebrating because of the Pandemic and they cannot experience what they are used to. No sweet chocolates, no lovely flowers, no cute balloons, and teddy bears. But this time may be the great time to train and to improve the bond and the love that you feel with each other. Love will always prevail in the end to the couples who stayed with their partners and their commitment to each other.

This Pandemic will continuously affects our lives, including our relationships with our love ones. Celebrating Valentine’s and holidays this year is not bad at all but we can make this a great time to give some attentions to our partners and to keep our relationship intact and hopefully everything will be back to normal.

EXPERIENCE! Ylocos Kannawidan Festival

Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is one of the most enjoying fiestas of Ilocos Sur. Kanniwadan Festival is an annual festival to promote and preserve the culture of the province and its traditions. This festival is a very significant fiesta to every resident in the province of Ilocos Sur as they are celebrating the foundation of Ilocos Sur as a province under the Royal Decree signed on February 2, 1818. But this year, 2021 because of the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic Kannawidan Festival is not that festive compared to other years. Kannawidan means heritage or inheritance and in Ilocano means “tawid”.

Kannawidan is a place for showcasing the traditions and cultures of different parts of Ilocos Sur. Kannawidan Festivals also have the highlights including the street dancing, marching band competition, trade fair, and chorale competition, and the most important part is the “one town, one product” of every town in Ilocos Sur. This year is different because of the Pandemic. Many activities were canceled just like the street dancing competition. The struggle is real during this celebration. People will maintain their social distancing and wearing face masks and face shields and also sanitize their selves. People going to the trade fair also maintain social distancing and also have to write their names as for the contact tracing that they would do in case there is a Covid positive. Kannawidan Ylocos Festival 2021 is not the same compared to previous years.

Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is great and you can learn a lot. Kannawidan is a celebration of the cultures and traditions of the Province of Ilocos Sur. It is also a celebration to preserve the doings of the people. The festival is beautiful because it has a great impact on its audience for it shows the traditions and cultures of the residence of the province. Kannawidan Ylocos Festival is evidence that the province is diverse. 2021 Kannawidan Festival is not the same as before but the most important is that the people would not forget their traditions and cultures despite the ongoing pandemic.

Our Traditions are still alive amidst the ongoing Pandemic!

Fiesta is a time of joyful celebration of us Filipinos. Fiesta is one of the special and important events because they merge and nurture culture, history, and family. We also celebrate fiesta for the honor of our patron saints. But during these times, Fiesta is more enjoyable compared to previous years because of the ongoing pandemic.

The Vigan City fiesta is held every 25th of January. Celebrating Vigan Fiesta this 2021 in the middle of pandemic shows us how important our culture. The Vigan City fiesta is held in honor of St. Paul the Apostle. Every year, locals and tourists gather to experience and to watch the street dancing, food fairs, arts and crafts, and carnivals. Celebrating this kind of fiestas is very important mostly to the people who really embraced the culture of it. Culture is a word for the “way of life” of groups of people, meaning the way they do things. Our culture is the thing that makes us different from other people. Celebrating fiestas during this pandemic is very different than before. Compared to previous years, it is obviously more festive before. It is common to Biguenos from all over the country and even abroad to return to Vigan, as it is automatically Filipinos to return to their hometown to join their friends and families in the celebration of their fiesta.  Vigan City fiesta is not complete without the street dancing completion, food fair, carnivals, and arts and crafts exhibits. But I don’t think these activities can be done because of the ongoing pandemic.

Our culture is a very important part of a place. Our culture is the one who guide and shape us. It is one of the proof who and what we came from. For me, culture is a cycle that you need to pass it on to the next generation. Celebrating Vigan Fiesta is very commendable and how happy I am that people will never forget to celebrate it in the middle of pandemic and we are able to celebrate it and keep our traditions and do it safely.

Another Year, another Challenge

New Year is the time, the day where a new calendar year begins. Many people celebrate New Year and it is celebrated on January 1. Many of us had different styles in celebrating a new year. Some of us have their own New Year’s resolution too. But the question is can you keep your New Year’s Resolution?

Every start of a year we can expect a lot to happen. We can say that this year will the most joyful year ever but we can also expect some bad moments too. Last year, 2020 is not a good year for all of us because of the ongoing pandemic and until now we are not still safe. 2020 was not a great year. Many crucial events happened all around the world including the bombing in Beirut, the death of the legendary basketball player Kobe Bryant and the rapid spread of Covid-19 that became a pandemic. Year 2020 was a very different year that all of us are not used to. The Pandemic separated us from our love ones, cancelling our own events like graduating students. But nothing can stop us, all of us found a way on how to continue on what we used to just like doing the graduation ceremony virtually, meeting our love ones virtually. For me I call 2020 as the year of the gadgets because they are the one who are keeping us all intact with our friends.

Every New Year the line “New year, new me” is famous. Every one of us has different events in life that totally change their personality and doings. But for me, you don’t have to change yourself just to get notice by someone, because you just have to be you except you have the New Year’s resolution to lose weight. For me I have no plan to change myself but I have a promise to myself that I will study harder, be more productive and forget the wrong doings that I have and I also promise that someday I will achieve my dreams and goals in life and I hope this year more blessings to come in each and every one of us and more friends to meet and make. And I hope vaccines of the ongoing pandemic will make and should be usable and effective. And I wish my height would increase though.
